Business Leaders must pray!
Business leaders collaborated with a Pastor in 1930 to begin the CBMC ministry.
A ‘Sailor’ by the name of Dawson Trotman began the Navigators at about that same time.
In 1967 four businessmen started Christian Direction in Quebec.
There is nothing new under the sun.
Moses, David, Abraham, the disciples and Jesus were business leaders whom God the Father used for His Kingdom purposes.
The next revival/revolution of faith will include all who work whether behind a pulpit, on their knees in a prayer room or with a mop cleaning the floor of the local diner. CEO’s, CFO’s and Chefs will be filled with the Holy Spirit and will proclaim Jesus as Lord. It is evident that the Holy Spirit is transforming the hearts of marketplace leaders throughout Canada.
In 1857 there were 30,000 men idle on the streets of New York. Jeremiah Lanphier, a praying businessman, began a noon time prayer meeting. Fourteen attended and prayed earnestly. Within weeks there were thousands of ‘workers’ meeting daily for prayer. It is estimated that one million came to know Christ as a result of this movement of God.
Are we engaged in the current movement of the Lord …or are we waiting for a ‘sign’?
Praise the Lord for all those who have gone before and who have laid down their lives for the Church by being faithful witnesses in the workplace. Thank the Lord for the joy of working and for the truth that my work is my ministry unto the Lord.
It is such a joy to realize that God is building His kingdom and he has invited me to participate.
Why we must pray!
The January 19th 2007 fatal car accident near Meaford that claimed the lives of 5 wonderfully talented and gifted young people begs the question… “Who was praying for those kids?” The Easter Sunday explosion that took the lives of 6 Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan…just who was praying? Tragedy and turmoil are part of community life and every city and nation will experience such pain from time to time. Therefore it is imperative that people pray! We must pray for the children, for the teachers and Principals, Vice-Principals and staffs…our schools deserve our prayers. Select a school near you and begin to pray today!
We must pray for peace and for those who lay their lives down every day for the security that we enjoy. The ‘bottom line is that we must pray!
It is understood that God does nothing but in answer to the prayers of His people and the constant intercession of His Son, Jesus Christ. Why should Christians pray for their young people, their leaders, their neighbours and their families? Why should they pray for this nation and for those in business, in education, in government? Why? Because God, who is Love, commanded His Church, those members of His Body who have trusted in Christ as Saviour, to pray! It is even suggested that Christians pray not once a day, not three or four or more times each day. We are admonished to “pray without ceasing”!
“Pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” (James 5:16 NASV)
“The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation.” (1Tim.2: 1, 2, The Message)
Our cities are committed to enhancing the life of every resident. Prayer will help! Cities must continue to offer a warm, friendly and safe aroma throughout their neighborhoods and marketplaces. Prayer will help! When crisis or turmoil or tragedy strikes and citizens are searching for answers and for a semblance of peace, the prayers of this city’s citizens will accomplish much. When the people of God pray, God hears from Heaven and the fragrance of His presence and the evidence of His work permeate the city. Prayer brings life to the weary and hope to those in despair. Prayer brings confidence and wisdom to those in authority, even to those who lack faith for themselves.
Christians must pray in obedience to the heavenly Father and in gratitude for such wonderful cities in which we live. “Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving.”
A prayerful community is a grateful community.
